This Introduction to Safeguarding Adults training course will teach you about your responsibilities for safeguarding adults with care and support needs. You will learn about the relevant safeguarding legislation and the importance of safeguarding training for everyone that works with adults at risk.

This course will also teach you about the safeguarding process and how to respond to, report and record any concerns, as well as what happens after a referral is made and the common barriers that can prevent those involved from speaking out. Finally, you will learn about what happens once the Local Authority's adult safeguarding team have received the referral, the various stages that follow and some of the potential outcomes of the enquiry process.

Module 1: Introduction to Adult Safeguarding

What is safeguarding, key principles of safeguarding, who is considered an adult at risk and safeguarding legislation.

Module 2: Understanding the Types of Abuse

The ten types of abuse, who carries out abuse, further safeguarding concerns and external support.

Module 3: Responding to Concerns and Disclosures

Safeguarding concerns and disclosures, how to respond, recording concerns and disclosures, the reporting process, barriers to speaking out and whistleblowing.

Module 4: Understanding What Happens Next

What happens to the referral, receiving a response, next steps, potential outcomes and the closure process.

The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. You will be asked 20 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 80%. The answers are marked automatically so you will instantly know whether you have passed. If you don't pass don't worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.

This course is suitable for anyone whose job role involves working with adults at risk.
