Likewise, the information on how to use PPE complies with advice published by Public Health England, the NHS, and the Department of Health and Social Care.

The government guidance for close contact services is subject to continuing reviews and changes. At the time of the most recent release (30/09/21) this course matches all of the latest updates. Who should take this course?

This course is suitable for those returning to work who provide close contact services. It should be taken by anyone who wants to understand the correct infection control procedures, the techniques for putting on and removing basic PPE, and how they can help to make the workplace a safe place for everyone by limiting the risks associated with COVID-19.

This includes:

  • Hairdressers and barbers
  • Dress fitters, tailors and fashion designers
  • Tattoo parlours
  • Beauty salons and nail bars
  • Spas and tanning studios

This course is suitable for employers and employees, both working in the workplace or seeing clients in their home.

This course is not aimed at those working in high risk settings, including health and social care, dentistry, cleaners and porters, construction and trade workers, etc, as they will need further types of PPE to ensure they can work safely and are protected from the risks in their workplace, including COVID-19. These people would better benefit from our PPE for Healthcare course or our Personal Protective Equipment course. If you do not provide close contact services as part of your role, you should consider taking our COVID-19 Essentials: Infection Prevention & PPE course instead.
