High Speed Training Launch New PPE Training Course – Free For Frontline Healthcare Staff
We are pleased to announce the release of our newest online training course, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Training for Healthcare Workers, which will be free of charge for all NHS staff and frontline healthcare workers.
The Latest Guidance In One Place
At High Speed Training, we specialise in professional compliance. It is our mission as a company to ensure people are effective, engaged and safe at work.
The current global pandemic of COVID-19 has presented unimaginable challenges to the way businesses operate and how they manage staff welfare. This is especially the case for those bravely working on the frontline to care for those who have fallen unwell.
As a training provider, we wanted to help as much as we could.
We have been working hard with our health and safety specialists to create an online course that helps simplify and collates the latest government guidelines surrounding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Healthcare Workers.
The course is designed to build on the existing knowledge of PPE among NHS employees, as well as offer immediate support to volunteers and retired NHS workers that have come forward to scale up the workforce and need bringing up to speed on PPE requirements.
Learners who take the course will:
- Be provided with a thorough understanding of how to effectively wear, remove, change, store and maintain PPE. This includes sterile and non-sterile gloves, fluid-resistant face masks and FFP3 respirators, eye and face protection such as face shields/visors, and aprons and long-sleeved gowns.
- Know how to don and doff multiple items of PPE safely.
- Gain an understanding of the legal requirements for safely disposing of used PPE.
- Understand the latest guidance regarding using PPE amidst COVID-19 and related PPE shortages.
- Recognise the actions that should be taken if PPE is compromised.
The training is appropriate for all levels of experience and is suitable regardless of an individual’s access to other NHS training.
Free For Frontline Healthcare Staff
The course is free of charge for frontline healthcare workers. You can access the course here.
Please check the full terms and conditions on the course page for more information. Alternatively, you can contact us to discuss your PPE training needs.
The course is available to purchase at £20 plus VAT for non-frontline healthcare workers.
Why Do Healthcare Workers Need PPE Training?
The correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in infection control has always been extremely important in health and social care settings. Now, the need for clear guidance and good training resources for PPE is vital in the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Brian Griffiths, BG Healthcare Consultancy
Frontline healthcare workers are currently navigating the use of multiple types of PPE at once including eye protection, a surgical mask, gloves and an apron while caring for patients that have suspected symptoms of the virus or a confirmed diagnosis.
A lack of clarity has been a big cause of concern with many workers, including GPs and residential care staff, feeling exposed while caring for patients not seen as high risk.
Knowledge of the correct method for donning and doffing PPE is not only essential in protecting our NHS and its workforce from the devastating effects of COVID-19; it will also provide a measure of reassurance to those heroes who are currently being asked to go above and beyond in their line of duty.
