In terms of services, these regulations require Facilities Managers to ensure provisions are made for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Temperature.<\/li>\n<li>Ventilation.<\/li>\n<li>Humidity.<\/li>\n<li>Lighting.<\/li>\n<li>Work space dimensions.<\/li>\n<li>Cleanliness.<\/li>\n<li>Toilet and washing facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Rest and eating facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These facilities can be divided into two groups: hard and soft services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But what\u2019s the difference between the two?<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Hard Services<\/h2>\n<p>Hard services are ones which relate to the physical fabric of the building and cannot be removed. To do an assessment, consider all aspects of the business and look at which facilities already exist:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are these sufficient and efficient?<\/li>\n<li>Are further facilities required?<\/li>\n<li>Do existing facilities need maintenance or are any duplicated that can be removed?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019ll also need to think about the nature of the business, as certain spaces will need different services. Also think about security, sustainability and who accesses the space \u2013 what are their needs?
