About us

High Speed Training are a team of over 50 people who are striving to fulfil our mission: Deliver training that helps people to be engaged, effective and safe in the career they’ve chosen.

To do this, we create online training courses that help customers across a wide-range of subjects and sectors. Having trained over a million people, we’re always looking to create new ways of engaging with our learners, and we’re looking forward to training the next million.

Your role in the team

As a User Researcher at High Speed Training you’ll be responsible for working with our Product Owners to help bring our vision to life. We are all about our learners, so you will be creating and developing elegant, easy-to-use and innovative solutions that will help drive levels of customer engagement and satisfaction.

You’ll be part of an Agile squad working with colleagues from Commercial, Marketing, Content and Technical. You will be designing and building interactive prototypes to solve challenging problems. Validated Learning is really fundamental to how we build great products, and you’ll be working as a team to build tests, measure their success, and learn from the outcomes.

  • Own the strategic approach to user research ensuring that opportunities to share research are maximised.
  • Be the first point of contact for Product Owners and make decisions about when user research is required.
  • Advise when other forms of research could be needed.
  • Coach project teams to have a greater understanding of the principles of user research and support them to carry out user research activities and analysis of research.
  • Lead on embedding user research activities across the organisation ensuring projects are based on validated user needs.
  • Create design proposals using sketches, wireframes, UI designs and prototyping.
  • Able to iterate your designs quickly whilst incorporating relevant feedback from stakeholders.
  • Be the voice of UX and be advising/guiding decisions with the squad using this expertise.

What we’re looking for

  • A deep understanding of user research methodologies and techniques including user interviews, accessibility tests and workshops and can choose appropriate methods for user research.
  • Extensive experience of applying techniques for analysis of research data and summarising findings.
  • Able to support Product Owners to present clear findings and insights that can be used to make decisions based on.
  • Help our project teams to understand the problem they are trying to solve and then align user research activities to inform decisions.
  • Knowledge of user centred design practices and be able to feed in user research findings to the design process.
  • Good communication and influencing skills to be able to advocate the benefits of user research and user centred design.
