It contains downloadable resources to help with recording seizures and identifying any patterns or potential triggers. By the end of this training, you will also be aware of the relevant legislation and associated legal responsibilities.

4Impact on Development and Functioning

Learning difficulties, memory, processing difficulties, effects of medication, injuries and falls, sleep and mood and behaviour.

5Supporting Those with Epilepsy

Talking about epilepsy, managing risks, risk assessments, individual healthcare plans (IHPs), education, health and care plans (EHCPs) and working together.

Aims of the course

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Understand what epilepsy is and how to recognise its signs and symptoms.
  • Be aware of potential triggers of epilepsy and seizures.
  • Know how to provide support during a seizure.
  • Understand the impact of epilepsy on development and functioning.
  • Be aware of relevant legislation and have an understanding of the associated legal responsibilities.


Assessment

The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. You will be asked 20 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 80%. The answers are marked automatically, so you will instantly know whether you have passed. If you don't pass, don't worry. You can take the test as many times as you need – with no extra charge.
