CPR Awareness

CPR Awareness Training
£25 +VAT

This online CPR Awareness Training course will give you an awareness of how to recognise when someone needs CPR and how to administer it. It is strongly recommended that everyone has a basic understanding of how to give CPR during a medical emergency. Approximately, less than 1 in 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK. Knowing how to carry out CPR during a cardiac arrest may save someone’s life.

Throughout this course, you will learn when someone needs CPR, how to administer it to adults, children, and infants, how to use a defibrillator (AED), how to put someone into the recovery position, what infection prevention measures need to be considered, and how to safely carry out CPR during the COVID-19 pandemic. These topics are presented through a combination of text, illustrations, and videos, giving you an awareness of CPR, or refreshing your existing knowledge. This will help you to safely and confidently administer CPR if you are in a situation where someone needs it.

Note that this online training course gives you an awareness of CPR, but it does not make you a qualified first aider. To become a qualified first aider, you would need to have attended competency-based, practical training.

  • Developed by qualified first aid professionals
  • Accredited by CPD and IIRSM
  • Fully online course and assessment with no time limits
  • Full audio voiceover
  • Approximate duration: 1 - 2 hours
  • On completion, certificate is posted the next working day

COVID-19 and First Aid

This course includes a section in the final module on how to safely give CPR during the COVID-19 pandemic, when extra measures are advised. Following these will help to protect both you and the casualty from infection risks. This additional content has been developed in line with guidance published by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Resuscitation Council UK, together with qualified first aid and healthcare professionals. Having this knowledge will help you to feel confident in assessing COVID-19 risks in an emergency and safely administering CPR.

Who should take this course?

This CPR Awareness training course is suitable for anyone who wants an understanding of how to carry out CPR, as well as those who want to refresh their existing knowledge. You don’t need to have any previous qualifications or an understanding of CPR to take this course as the basics, including who can give certain types of CPR and how to recognise when it needs to be given, are introduced and explained.

This course is designed to help ensure as many people as possible have an awareness level of how to recognise when someone needs CPR and how to administer it. If someone isn’t breathing normally, CPR needs to be administered immediately to increase the person’s chance of survival. It’s unlikely that medical professionals will be nearby when someone has a cardiac arrest, and so this course is intended to help people give CPR to their family, friends, colleagues, or members of the public during this type of emergency.

Does This Course Allow Me to Become a Qualified First-Aider?

This course does not make you a qualified first aider. It is designed to provide an awareness level of understanding and may be taken to introduce CPR as a life-saving procedure, or as a refresher course to maintain knowledge.

If you are looking for training to become a qualified first aider, you must receive practical training that involves at least 18 contact hours. Guidance on choosing a provider for this can be found online: www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/geis3.htm
