Please introduce yourself and your organisation.
Nick Gent, Director at TBS Cladding Solutions. We are a brick-cladding manufacturer specialising in both the retail and large scale commercial sectors, both within the UK and Export markets. We currently employ 20 full time staff at our production facility. My role is to control the day to day running of the company.
Why did you choose our e-learning courses?
I spent a lot of time looking for local providers who could offer the correct courses for my staff, eventually giving up as there isn’t anyone local who could offer the required courses, which meant I would have had to send staff away for the courses which increases the cost due to the travelling and hotels required, also a large proportion of staff also did not want to be away from home. When I discovered High Speed Training, which offered a wide variety of courses at reasonable prices that could be done in the office at a time to suit the business, it was the perfect fit for our company and importantly the staff also.
What specific need or problem were you trying to address by taking our training?
I was trying to avoid having staff sent all over the county at different times to get on the correct courses, which generally fell at times we could not spare the resources, or were months away from taking place, the e-learning courses are the perfect solution to this issue allowing me to pick and choose when the training takes place to suit the business needs.
How did our training stand out from other options you considered?
I had a look at a few providers, and I found High Speed Training to offer the largest variety of courses that were relevant to our business, at very competitive prices, with the added benefit of an admin system that lets me allocate and monitor course progress for all staff.
How was the learning process for you and your staff?
The feedback I have received from all staff is that the courses are very well designed, easy to navigate, and give them plenty of time to absorb the required knowledge before moving on to the next section, which is especially important when you have staff with different levels of capabilities.
How straightforward was it to get started?
Really straightforward to be honest, I purchased several courses online and received an email back within minutes to create an admin log-in, far easier than organising travel arrangements and overnight accommodation.
How did you find distributing the training and tracking the progress of your staff?
This was the simplest part of the process, I found it very easy to add the correct staff and assign the courses individually, the fact I can also track their progress easily is also a big plus for me.
What specific outcomes have you achieved as a result of using our training?
We have got the necessary staff trained on their required roles, and some additional training courses that we probably would not have gone for if it not for the ease of doing them online, this coupled with the fact that it has built in reminders for their refreshers takes a weight of my mind trying to record and track this information.
What feedback have you received from your employees or other stakeholders?
The feedback from the employees has all been very positive, they much prefer the online option than travelling to sit in a classroom for hours on end! The added bonus that they can start and stop the course to suit themselves has been the best benefit to the staff.
How effective and engaging have they found the training?
I would say the training is very effective, more so than classroom-based training where they have the opportunity to switch off, sit back and let death by powerpoint commence. I have been on several of these types of courses and then they even go through the answers with you at the end test, so in my opinion the High Speed Training course is far more engaging as they actually have to interact with the learning to progress through to the next stage.
Are there any specific features or aspects of the training that they particularly liked?
I think the biggest feature that the staff have liked would be the ability to pause the training and pick it back up later at a more convenient time. Some of my staff have opted to do the training from home, which if you have a busy family life can make completing the courses in one go tricky.
Overall, would you recommend High Speed Training to others?
Yes, I would absolutely recommend High Speed Training to others, I think in today’s day and age having the ability to complete online courses is a far more efficient method of training staff than face-to-face/classroom-based learning, it is more engaging, more cost-effective, and takes the stress out of keeping on top of refreshers.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The only comment I would add is the ability to use the staff member’s email address or name as a login instead of it all being based on the initial admin email address.
