This Health and Safety Training for Employees course explains your responsibilities for maintaining safety and wellbeing in the workplace. It teaches you how to actively identify and manage hazards and risks, follow safe work procedures and respond appropriately to workplace problems, such as conflict. By completing this training, you will learn how to protect yourself and others from harm and contribute to a safe and healthy workplace.

Module 1: Spotting Workplace Hazards

This module introduces common workplace hazards, including slips, trips, falls and electrical dangers. It covers how to identify these hazards and their associated risks, and what actions to take to keep yourself and others safe.

Module 2: Managing Your Safety

This module explains how effective safety relies on both employer measures and individual actions. It covers the importance of reporting hazards, near misses and incidents, as well as following good housekeeping practices and your workplace risk assessments.

Module 3: Maintaining a Safe Work Environment

This module covers safe work environments, including safe access, proper lighting, suitable temperature and welfare provisions. It also contains optional sections on display screen equipment (DSE), noise, vibration and vehicle safety, which you can choose to view if they are relevant to your role.

Module 4: Carrying Out Safe Work Activities

This module focuses on safely performing common work activities such as manual handling, working at height and using various types of work equipment. If relevant to your work, you can view optional sections on using specific working at height equipment and operating dangerous machinery.

Module 5: Handling Substances and Responding to Emergencies

This module explains how to handle hazardous substances safely and respond to emergencies like fires. It also provides information on first aid provisions.

Module 6: Addressing Workplace Wellbeing and Conflict

This module addresses workplace problems, including conflict, work-related stress and drug and alcohol misuse. It contains guidance on how to recognise and respond to these challenges as an employee and what you should expect from your employer.

The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. You will be asked 15 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 80%. The answers are marked automatically so that you’ll instantly know whether you passed. If you don't pass don't worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.

This course is designed for employees in all environments who do not hold additional health and safety management responsibilities. This includes, but isn’t limited to, those who work in construction, education, offices, hospitality, retail and logistics.

Can this training course help me apply for SSIP accreditations like CHAS and SMAS?

Yes, our Health and Safety for Employees course can act as evidence of industry-related training for accreditation applications, such as CHAS. It covers the requirements of Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and various health and safety-related regulations, which will help you understand how to fulfil the legal duties they set out. Knowledge of these topics form part of the training requirements set out by accreditation assessment bodies, so you must be able to demonstrate evidence of compliance in order for your application to be successful. Our course will contribute to the evidence you must provide during your application, to show that you have received the relevant training.


Please note that it will be down to each individual accreditation body to decide if our courses are sufficient for the training requirements of your specific business. This evidence only forms one part of your overall application process. It is up to you to prove you are fulfilling your legal duties and to supply sufficient evidence for everything the accrediting body requires in order for your application to be successful.
